Some awards won by Linkin Park you didn’t know about

So we all know what an amazing band Linkin Park is, but do you know how many awards they’ve won so far? Probably not (unless you’re a super fan) so here’s a quick list of some of the awards the rock band’s got under their belt thus far:

American Music Awards: Favorite Alternative Artist

The group won the award five times to date, first in 2003, then again in 2004, 2007, 2008 and finally 2012.

Billboard Music Awards: Modern Rock Artist of the Year

The group’s been nominated 13 times, but has only won once when they were first nominated in 2001.

Grammy Awards: Best Hard Rock Performance

“Crawling” was the song that helped them bag this award in 2002. They were nominated again in the same category eight years later, but lost.

Grammy Awards: Best Rap/Sung Collaboration

For their work with Jay-Z for “Numb/Encore”, the group took home the trophy – likely the only one they’d be nominated for in this category unless they team up with another rapper.

MTV Europe Music Awards: Best Hard Rock

This would be the first MTV Europe Music Award for the group, winning in this category in 2002.

MTV Europe Music Awards: Best Group

With a total of two wins in this category, Linkin Park nabbed the award in both 2002 and 2007.

MTV Europe Music Awards: Best Rock

This is the category where Linkin Park has scored the most – winning a total of four awards in 2004, 2011, 2012 and 2014.

MTV Europe Music Awards: Best Group

Awarded to the group in 2007, they have yet to be nominated in this same category again.

MTV Europe Music Awards: Best World Stage Performance

They’ve won this category twice: first in 2009 and then again in 2013.

MTV Video Music Brazil: Best International Video

Totalling three wins, Linkin Park won for “In the End” in 2002, “Somewhere I Belong” in 2003 and then “Numb” in 2004.

MTV Asia Awards: Favorite Breakthrough Artist

Their first award at the MTV Asia Awards, the group took home this trophy in 2002.

MTV Asia Awards: Favorite Video

Recipients of two awards for this category, they scored the first in 2003 for “Pts.OR.Athrty” and then again in 2004 with “Somewhere I Belong”.

MTV Asia Awards: Favorite Rock Act

Linkin Park scored this award twice – first in 2003 and then again in 2004.

MTV Asia Awards: Favorite International Artist of Asia

In 2008 the group scored this prestigious award – clearly Asia loves Linkin Park!

MTV Video Music Awards: Best Rock Video

A total win of three times for this category, the group won in 2002 for “In the End”, 2003 with “Somewhere I Belong” and “Shadow of the Day” in 2008.

MTV Video Music Awards: Viewer’s Choice Award

The 2004 win for “Breaking the Habit” has been the only win for the group in this category thus far.

MTV Video Music Awards Japan: Best Group Video

Despite being nominated numerous times for this same category, the group has only won once: “Breaking the Habit” in 2005.

MTV Video Music Awards Japan: Best Collaboration

For their collaboration with Jay-Z on “Numb/Encore”, the group won in this category in 2005 – notably the only year the group’s won in Japan.

World Music Awards: World’s Best Selling Group

The group has won this award three times – first in 2002, then again in 2003 and finally four years later in 2007.

While this list is clearly just a slice of what they’ve won, it gives you a pretty good idea of how successful they’ve been since they released their debut album in 2000. There’ll be plenty more to come, for sure!
